Family Engagement

The support center provides: 

    • Workshops for families and caregivers (Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 12 students)
    • School readiness workshops for families
    • English classes for adults
    • Lending library with books, learning materials, and resources
    • Free Rosetta Stone licenses

Health Services for CCSD Students

Pediatric Services

Physical Health Services:

Medical Services available (non-emergency)

  • Sick Visits

Mental Health Services: 

  • Access to individual and family therapy
  • Support with substance abuse treatment

Medical services for newcomer students are provided at no cost. Medicaid and private insurance will be utilized when available.

Health services are NOT to be used for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please visit your nearest hospital emergency room or call 911.

Newcomer Support

Student Services:

  • Initial District and school orientation
  • Specialized programming with a focus on language and literacy development
  • Foreign transcript analysis
  • Assistance with college applications, financial aid, and career options
  • Initial intake and assessments for student placement

Family Services: 

  • Guidance with student registration
  • Initial orientation, including information on policy specific to CCSD
  • Access to interpreters and translators in selected and low-incidence languages
  • Referral to wraparound services (ex. Mental health, employment, parenting classes, etc.)

UNIFY

Regardless of citizenship status, children living in the United States are legally permitted to receive an elementary, middle, and high school education through the U.S. public school system thanks to the 1982 decision in Plyler v Doe.
