Transportation… if the student lives 2 or more miles from the Home-School
CCSD Regulation 3531 establishes a 2-mile “walking zone.
In the Clark County School District (CCSD), bus transportation is generally available for students who live two or more miles from their school. However, the specific type of service and the area it covers depend heavily on whether your child attends their zoned neighborhood school.
Parents can download and use the CCSD Onboard App to get real-time stop information and bus alerts.

RTC RIDE ON For CCSD Students
Criteria for NOT being able to take the CCSD (Yellow) Bus
In general, students are not eligible for standard yellow bus transportation if:
-
They are selected for the “RideOn” Program: High school students who would normally qualify for a yellow bus (live >2 miles away) may be switched to the RTC public bus system if their school is part of the RideOn partnership.
2. Why do some students receive an RTC pass?
The RideOn program is a partnership between CCSD and the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC). Selected high school students receive a free monthly RTC pass instead of a yellow bus ride for a few key reasons:
-
Driver Shortage: The primary driver is a shortage of school bus drivers. Moving high schoolers to public transit frees up yellow bus drivers for elementary, middle, and special education routes.
-
Flexibility for Students: Unlike a yellow bus that only goes to and from school at fixed times, the RTC pass allows students to use the bus system 24/7 for free. This helps them get to after-school jobs, extracurricular activities, or other events on weekends.
-
Efficiency: It utilizes existing public bus routes that already run near the students’ homes and schools, avoiding duplicate trips.
How do I know if I am eligible for the RTC Pass? You can check specific eligibility using the “Check Student Eligibility.” Please click the link below! https://transportation.ccsd.net/student/rtc-check
